How Do I Tail a Log

This lesson will teach you how to tail a log

  1. Login to the machine needed. (CCLlog and Syslog will be on the site controller. Poslog will be on the POS.)
  2. Go to the directory where the desired log is located.  For this example, the Syslog is the log being viewed, so the directory is /home/sitecon/sc.

*Note: Only logs that are currently being written to can be tailed.

Type tail -f <filename of log> (In the example, Syslog.dat)
