How Do I Process A Transaction If The Customer Is Using A Coupon?

This lesson will teach you how to tender a transaction when the customer is using a coupon.

Ring the items in the customer's purchase.  Notice that the Register Status has changed from Idle to Sale in Progress.

By touching the "Subtotal" button, you can see the total Amount Due.

You can now tell the customer the total amount that is owed for the transaction by checking the Amount Due.

Touch the "Other" button which will take you to a screen where you can choose payment types other than just Cash or Credit.

Touch the "Coupon Menu" button.

Select Coupon Type

(1) Touch the coupon type that the customer is using.

(2) Touch the "Select" button.

Coupon Amount

(1) Enter the dollar value of the coupon by using the number pad on the keyboard.  In this example, the coupon is worth fifty cents.  Be sure to include a decimal point.

(2) Touch the "OK" button.

Remaining Amount Due

(1) The coupon amount shows up as an Amount Tendered.

(2) There is still an Amount Due of 13 cents.

Typically, a coupon will not cover the entire amount of the transaction and you will need to tender the remaining balance using another form of payment.
